As we once again celebrate our national holiday of St. Patrick’s Day, join us at the Gardens for an exploration of all things Irish through the folklore of our native plants. What actually is the shamrock, and where do shillelaghs come from? Who are the Nobles of the Wood, and how did the Salmon of Knowledge gain its powers? When do the “cross-quarter days” of the Gaelic calendar fall, and why do we traditionally leave a lone hawthorn tree well alone?
