Irish Garden Plant Society Lecture
Afternoon lecture
‘Daffodils in Ireland’ with Dave and Jules from Esker Farm Daffodils, Co. Tyrone.
‘A hobby that got out of hand’ is often the phrase used to describe how Esker Farm Daffodils came into existence. Based in Co. Tyrone, between Omagh and Enniskillen, the nursery initially focused purely on daffodils but over the last few years, they have ventured into selling a broader range of other specialised more unusual bulbs, many of these starting out as the daffodils did – as a hobby. But now the personal collections of snowdrops, crocuses, colchicums, fritillaria and other unusual bulbs are slowly being added to the catalogue and website as numbers permit.
Over the coming years the nursery will continue to develop and increase our range of bulbs, introducing new varieties bred here in Dromore.
The talk is on ‘Daffodils in Ireland’ and take you through the wonderfully rich tapestry of the history of daffodil breeding across the island of Ireland.
Free event, no need to book
