Nature Arising by Michael Quane The building features the work of three Irish artists. In the forecourt pond, a sculpture by Michael Quane in Kilkenny limestone exemplifies the kingdom of plants arising (left).
Glass applique by Roisin de Buitleir The glass atrium wall features appliqué glasswork by Rosin de Buitléir (right), and draws its inspiration from herbarium specimens in the herbarium collection.
The evolution of land plants - Yew and a fossil Angiosperm Archaeanthus The wall above the stairs features bas-reliefs of fossil and archaic plant species by Lisa Young. Further panels by Lisa at the entrance to the herbarium and library, feature magnified stem sections of grass and a page from Brumfel’s herbal in the library collection, respectively.
